It reveals His identity as the Word made flesh, the Light of the world, and the source of eternal life.
As we read through this Gospel, we will reflect on its deep teachings, exploring its unique emphasis on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and how these truths empower us to live in communion with God. This reading plan will help you engage with John’s writing in a way that nurtures both spiritual growth and a deeper understanding of the Kingdom of God.
Note: This plan is designed for daily reading, with reflections that emphasize practical application and transformation. Each day’s reading will be accompanied by thought-provoking questions to reflect on and journal about.
Week 1: Introduction to Jesus’ Divine Identity
Day 1: John 1:1-14 – The Word Made Flesh
We begin with one of the most profound introductions to Jesus in all of Scripture. John begins by describing Jesus as the eternal Word, who was with God and was God (John 1:1-2). He is the Creator, the Life, and the Light of all mankind (John 1:3-5). The Word became flesh and dwelt among us—Jesus was fully divine and fully human.
Reflection: How does the divinity and humanity of Jesus impact your understanding of His ability to relate to you in your everyday life? What does it mean to you that God became flesh?
Day 2: John 1:15-18 – Grace and Truth Through Jesus
John the Baptist testifies to the greatness of Jesus, declaring that He is the One who surpasses all others. Through Jesus, we receive grace upon grace—God’s favour, unearned and undeserved.
Reflection: Reflect on the concept of “grace upon grace.” How have you personally experienced God’s grace in your life? What does it look like to live in grace rather than striving for perfection?
Day 3: John 1:19-34 – John the Baptist Testifies About Jesus
John the Baptist’s role was to prepare the way for Jesus. He boldly declares that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Week 2: Jesus’ Ministry Begins
Day 4: John 1:35-51 – The First Disciples
As John points out Jesus as the Lamb of God, two of his disciples begin to follow Jesus. They ask, “Where are you staying?” and Jesus invites them to “come and see.” Jesus calls Andrew, Peter, Philip, and Nathanael to follow Him, and He gives them a new purpose.
Reflection: Reflect on your own calling. How did you first encounter Jesus? What new purpose has Jesus given to you? How does following Him impact your daily life?
Day 5: John 2:1-11 – The Wedding at Cana
At the wedding in Cana, Jesus performs His first miracle—turning water into wine. This sign reveals His glory and the abundant nature of His ministry.
Reflection: In what areas of your life do you need God to bring transformation? How can you trust that God has an abundance of blessings to pour into your life, even in ordinary circumstances?
Day 6: John 2:12-25 – Jesus Clears the Temple
Jesus drives out those who were buying and selling in the temple, declaring that God’s house should be a house of prayer.

Week 3: The Signs and Teachings of Jesus
Day 7: John 3:1-21 – Nicodemus and the New Birth
